A big part of softball’s 10-3 record this season is due to first baseman/outfielder Lauren Fussell (12).
Fussell leads the team with 22 runs and has posted a .484 batting average. In 42 plate appearances so far this season, she has 15 hits including a homerun on Sept. 15 against Mehlville. Aside from producing runs, Fussell has taken a major leadership role this season, left by graduates from last year.
“Much of our success is due to her leadership,” head coach Rich Sturm said. “That’s what she has picked up from graduates such as Julie Kernen, Remy Edwards and Chloe Wolf and she has been a great leader. She does all the little things above and beyond stats which is what you expect from her.”
OHS plays at Parkway West today, Sept. 16, at 4:15 p.m.
