Following a big win against Northwest Friday, OHS football improves their postseason record to 2-9, and guarantees themselves a playoff berth as they will be playing for a district title game against Eureka next Friday. The Tigers blew out Northwest with a final score of 42-7.
The game raised high emotions for OHS players who remember last year’s painful 14-13 defeat against the Lions.
“We’ve been playing well these last two weeks. Although the competition hasn’t been great, I think we’re executing on offense and defense very well. We’re motivated after struggling so much last season. We’re focused on what we have to do,” coach Arlee Conners said.
So now the table is set, OHS will take on a strong Eureka team that’s 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the postseason. The winner takes home the district championship trophy.
Last year, Eureka beat the Tigers substantially to and went on to be the district champions.
“We’re definitely motivated this week. We get another shot at Eureka, after they ran the score up on us last year,” Conners said.
OHS has arguably been playing their best football all season these last two weeks. Despite the poor competition, the defense is making big plays, and the offense is missing opportunities to score. The Tigers are confident and ready to bring home their third district championship in the last four years.
