Boys varsity soccer played Kirkwood on senior night, Oct. 26, and won 2-0. OHS recently met Kirkwood in a 6-0 win in the CYC Tournament.
“I think weather was a factor, but our team adapts well,” said Clay Stocker (12).
Throughout the first half, the Tigers maintained possession and played a passing oriented style, eventually the Tigers got through and Jared Swierk (12) scored top shelf late into the first half.
“Kirkwood was highly motivated, but our passing was good throughout the first half,” head coach Dave Robben said. “ Afterwords, it got scrappy.”
Near the end of the first half, a Kirkwood player received a red card for profanity, and the Tigers got sloppy. OHS had a lot of chances, but the finishing was not there.
According to Robben, the Tigers tried to force too many balls through the midfield; however, defender Jordan Klipsch (11) and sweeper Clay Stocker (12) played well and marked their men throughout.
With three minutes left, Patrick McInerney (12) scored the second goal adding to the Tiger’s goal tally and securing the win.
