Even though boys basketball finished the Webster Groves tournament without a win, center Austin Gillmann (10) was at the top of his game.
Through the first three games of the season, Gillmann is averaging 12.7 points per game, 2.33 blocks per game and 9.7 rebounds per game. In the season opener against Belvidere North (IL), Gillmann got off to a hot start with 12 points and two blocks. Gillmann then recorded 12 points and three blocks on Dec. 9 against Miller Career. To top off the tournament, Gillmann recorded a double-double, with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
“One of the best things for us is that he is 14 out of 15 from the free throw line as well,” head coach Nick Traxler said. “With the amount of work he put in over the summer in the weight room, he has gotten stronger and quicker on the floor, which creates match up problems for the other team.”
The Tigers play at McCluer North on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in their first regular season game.
