Boys volleyball has started the season well after winning a state championship last year. A big part of the team’s 9-5 record is Jake Duckworth (11).
The Tigers went 3-1 last week, and Duckworth had a hand in all the games. Tuesday, April 10 against Parkway South, Duckworth had nine kills to help lift the Tigers over the Patriots, 2-0. The next day, Duckworth had 14 kills to help the Tigers beat Francis Howell North, 2-0. He then had 15 kills on April 12 against Lafayette, but it was not enough and the Tigers lost 1-2. To finish the week, Duckworth had a team high three aces in a 2-0 win against Fox.
“Jake is doing very well as of late,” teammate Austin Bennett (12) said. “His experience makes him a good leader and he is good at keeping our heads up.”
The Tigers will play at Seckman today, April 17, at 5:15 p.m.
