Heading into the last couple weeks of the season, girls soccer has a record of 13-3, including a CYC Tournament Championship. A large part of the Tiger’s success this season is due to Ashley Burton (12).
In her fourth year with the varsity team, Burton leads the team in goals with 14. Burton has two hat tricks so far this season, scoring three times against Seckman on March 29 and against Parkway West on April 17. During the CYC Tournament at the A.B. Center last week, Burton scored the first goal on Wednesday, April 25 against Collinsville to help OHS to a 2-1 win. Then in the championship game against Lindbergh, Burton scored the game winner in a 3-2 victory over Mehlville. On Monday, April 30, Burton scored two goals in a 6-1 win over Parkway North, putting her season total at 14.
“She is fearless,” teammate Lauren Fussell (12) said. “She sacrifices everything to get a goal and she is good at getting everyone focused and pumped up.”
The girls will play May 1 at Parkway South at 6 p.m.
