The OHS volleyball team amassed a perfect record and a state championship last year. This year, they have been less than perfect with a 13-12 record and losing seven of their last eight.
“It’s hard to follow that team, but we have our own goals,” Brian Tate (11) said.
One thing that has been hurting the Tigers so far has nothing to do with their play on the court, but rather their team morale.
“We have to keep our heads straight,” Jake Duckworth (11) said. “Too many times we get down over one point even though there’s 24 other ones we can get.”
Duckworth is having another great season averaging 4.08 kills a game which ranks ninth in the St. Louis area. Despite his success the Tigers are struggling to score points with only 29 this season. It ranks fourth in conference.
“We have to start communicating and stop turning on each other after we lose a point,” Austin Bennett (12) said.
The Tigers play at Northwest on May 1 at 5:15 p.m.
