The OHS Quiz Bowl team attended their first competition at the Clayton Invitational against 18 teams on Saturday, Nov. 12. The team finished in 2nd place, qualifying them for two national competitions, for the second year in a row.

Led by english teacher Christina Whelehon, Quiz Bowl has been in existence for three years at OHS. In those three years, the team has qualified for national competitions twice.

“The fact that we’re a third year team and we’ve qualified twice really says something about OHS,” Whelehon said.

This year, Quiz Bowl qualified for the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence (PACE) nationals, and the National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT) national competition in Atlanta, GA. However, due to lack of finances, the team will not be attending the NAQT competition.

The Quiz Bowl team will be traveling to Washington University June 9-10 to compete in the PACE national competition.
