“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” fans from slumber

When Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, speculation and then confirmation of a new Star Wars sequel had excited and delighted Star Wars fans of many ages. However, some doubted the ability of Disney to create a worthy sequel.

Now three years later, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is 241 days away and things are looking up. J.J Abrams has won the approval of most Star Wars fans, the teaser trailers (if you haven’t seen them yet, what are you doing) show Abrams return to scale model sets and practical effects instead of the CGI overhaul of the prequel trilogy. On top of that, Abrams and crew have brought back quite a few characters from the original trilogy; Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford will all be returning to reprise their roles of Luke Skywalker, Leia Skywalker, and Han Solo respectively. Even the loveable non-human characters will be making a triumphant return as Chewbacca, Han Solo’s trusted co-pilot, and R2-D2 were both seen in previous teaser trailers. As well as some new faces like Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and the new ball droid, BB-8 (The “soccer ball droid” from the first Episode VII Teaser)

This year is shaping up to be the year of Star Wars, with “The Force Awakens” set to be released on Christmas, and EA recently releasing the trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront 3 (playable on PS4/Xbox One/PC). Star Wars fans are already on the edge of their seats four short months into 2015 but we are all excited for what is to come. In a galaxy far, far, away.
