When students think about their senior year, there are many events that come to mind. One in particular is a trip that most seniors plan a year in advance during their junior year: their spring break trip.
“I chose Mexico because all of my friends of course were going, but we wanted to have a trip where we could make memories that would last a lifetime, which we did,” Maggie Abel said.
Senior spring break has been a tradition throughout the years and is a way for students to create more memories with their friends before starting college and their new lives.
“The importance of spring break is so big because it truly does bring out friendships and memories that will last forever and there is nothing better than that,” Abel said.
There are a variety of different locations that friend groups choose, but one of the most popular locations is Mexico. For the students who went this year, there were about 25 who traveled together.
“The process for the booking the trip was getting our plans together first, then finding a travel agency who would help us. Lastly, it was booking flights and paying for all of it,” Blake Hallsten said.
Not only were Oakville students spending a vacation away from school in Cancun, Lindbergh seniors were staying in the same resort, which led to more connections before the end of senior year.
“[Other schools being there] helped bring the class together and introduce you to a ton of new people if you’re going with other schools who may be going to the same college as you,” Katie Townsend said.
Many seniors feel that making the best of every moment is one of the most important things about senior year and having a trip with friends and family definitely creates memorable memories.
“The most memorable part of my trip was probably the last night when none of us decided to go party,” Hallsten said. “Instead we went to the live music and danced with our moms.”
