Despite low numbers, toy drive is a success

Despite low numbers, toy drive is a success

With this year’s toy drive coming to an end, high expectations were at a small set back.

“We didn’t get as many toys has we have in the past,” Mr. Rick Siem, OHS Toy Drive coordinator said. “But the toys were more substantial.”

Seim has an explanation for the low numbers.

“We have had multiple fundraisers,” Siem said. “and with this time of year and the economy bad, we know it can be hard for people to give back. “

But that did not stop OHS students to give back what they could.

The toys collected will be going to charities such as Guardian Angel, St. Jane, Covenant House, and others.  “Santa Bob”, who is the toy collector, has been coming to OHS for the past 15 years helping the school out with the toy drive.

“A nun had challenged my wife and I to give back to the less fortunate,” Bob said.  “Ever since 1985, we have been helping out with these charities.”

Siem hopes that next year will be a bigger success.
