OHS had its prom on May 14, and with the primarily positive response from those who attended, most can agree that the night was a success.

Prom was held at the Doubletree Hotel in Chesterfield. The doors to this “night of a thousand lights” opened at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 7. Once the students were finished, they were allowed to go out onto the dancefloor, which was located inside a large tent full of twinkling lights.

“The lights were nice–colorful,” Curtis Halbrook (12) said. “I thought the DJ was good. I had a lot of fun.”

Attendees danced the night away, enjoying classic songs like the Macarena and newer songs like “Freaky Friday.” Drinks were offered all night, along with a chocolate fountain.

“Everybody’s jaws just dropped,” said Kandace Miller (12), reminiscing about the chocolate fountain. “It was amazing. I thought the only dessert we had was cake, so it was a nice surprise.”

Finally, at about 9:30 p.m., the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived–the crowning of the prom king and queen. The court was made up of senior girls Taylor Zapf, Lindsey Meeks, Hannah Baker, Kristina Schallon, and Sophia Bommarito and senior boys Duncan Hall, Louis Luong, Corey Chase, Greg Davidson, and Tad Bast. Chase was named prom king and Baker was named prom queen.

“It was awesome,” said Chase.
