Every year, students across the country compete for National Merit Scholarship recognition. These students receive the highest scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Morgan Allen (12) was recently named a semifinalist.

“Whenever I found out, I was bursting with joy,” Allen said.

Allen was the only OHS student to receive this recognition. Meredith Bayer (12) and Caitlin Blanchard (12) were named commended students.

“I felt so proud of myself because I’ve been working for this ever since I found out about it my freshman year,” Allen said.

Approximately 16,000 high schoolers qualified as semifinalists. Finalists will be notified in February.
