Mehlville-Oakville rivalry hits the web

Mehlville-Oakville rivalry hits the web

Every year, the Mehlville- Oakville rivalry is always a big part of the school year.  No matter what, it seems that one school is always trying to “one up” the other.  Which is okay, because a rivalry is fun in ways.  But when is the line drawn to say its gone to far?

The fight between the two schools seems to be getting worse.  But this is not face-to-face confrontation with one another,  it takes its toll on the famous social networking site, Facebook.  Mehlville has a history of calling OHS “Mehlville South,” so some OHS students decided to make an event called “Football Game Vs.  Oakville North” as a joke.

Over the years before the Oakville – Mehlville football game it seemed to be getting out of hand with name calling, and school bashing on the web site.  But this is not something that should be encouraged at all.  This is when our two schools need to come together and draw the line to stop the insults. But when others are calling rivals out and saying that they plan to vandalize someone’s car or house, it is just getting out of hand.

No matter what, the rivalry will always be there.  But, when ever it feels like it’s gone too far,  students need to make the change and stop it.
