Tigers advance to quarterfinals of Challenge Cup

Down 4-1 midway through the second period, the Tigers looked as if they would head into the elimination round of the Challenge Cup with a loss. Five unanswered goals later, the Tigers were able to come away with a 6-4 victory over Ft. Zumwalt West (Feb. 3).

The boys struggled to get going against West, having a stagnant first period, then giving up three straight goals in the second. With the score 4-1, Blake Chapman (12) was brought in to stop the bleeding. The move seemed to ignite the Tigers and propelled them to five straight goals.

The Tigers will take on Chaminade in the next round of the Challenge Cup after finishing pool play 2-0-1. The Tigers have already faced Chaminade in the playoffs, coming away with a tie.

The Tigers are no strangers to facing Chaminade in the quarterfinals of the Challenge Cup. Just last season the boys were able to upset Chaminade with a thrilling comeback win in the second game of the two game series and then winning the 10 minute mini game.

The boys will look to reclaim some of last years magic. The first step to doing that will come Friday night (Feb. 7) at Queeny Park. The puck drops at 7pm.
