Basketball team begins preseason workouts

The OHS basketball team does not begin tryouts for another month, but players are already getting ready with the help of both new and returning coaches.

Former player Josh Noblitt, who graduated in 2010 and played for four years under Traxler, will be a member of the OHS basketball coaching staff this season. Noblitt stays after school four days a week to help the Tigers gain muscle in the weight room.

“I enjoy the hard work and I can’t wait to see the results,” returning varsity player Joe Green (12) said. Green is eagerly awaiting the season but wants to hit the weights in the meantime.

Players also work out with Coach Traxler from 6:15-7 a.m. in the morning three days a week. Traxler is helping the boys work on fundamentals like shooting and ball handling.

“It helps us find our strengths and weakness,” Coach Traxler explained about the rigorous workout schedule.

Anyone wanting to participate in basketball in the winter is asked to participate in voluntary offseason workouts. The schedule changes every week, so contact Coach Traxler for details.

“If you want to get better, you do it,” Marquis Pepper (12), another returning player, said.
