This weekend the OHS field hockey team competed in the Gateway Classic Field Hockey Tournament.

This was the first year that the girls participated and they won two out of their three games, just shy of winning their pool.

“I am very happy with our performance in the tournament. Coming out with two wins is definitely a success in my book,” said Coach Christina Gambaro. “I hope to make it a staple in our schedule for years to come because of the great atmosphere that comes with competing in the tournament. Hopefully next time we finish with three wins!”

The team competed both Friday and Saturday, defeating their first two opponents, Lake St. Louis and Brentwood, 5-0. On Saturday they unfortunately ended their undefeated record for the year, losing to Lake Community, an out of state team, 0-2.

Veronica Mohesky (11) said, “We work so hard to win the tournament, but even though we lost, we learned form our mistakes and are ready to play even harder in our upcoming games.”

Their next home game is Sept. 14, at 4:15 at Oakville Middle School.
