OHS runners recognized for academics
OHS cross country runners have been recognized for academic excellence.
Six OHS student athletes, Emma Mueller (12), Mackenzie Montandon (11), Olivia Witte (9), Jack Parcell (11), Drew Elza (10) and Alex Sullivan (12) were selected for Academic All State in Cross Country.
“I’m very proud,” Parcell said, “I work hard and excel in both school and cross country.”
Students were awarded for having a 25 or higher on the ACT, at least a 3.6 gpa, and competing in districts for cross country. This is first time this award was presented at OHS.
“It’s impressive,” said head cross country coach Kevin Niedringhaus, “ maintaining sports on top of academics is not an easy thing to do.”
Montandon was able to capitalize on her academic award after her top 30 performance at districts in Jackson. Resulting in her being the only OHS runner to qualify for selectionals.
