Pumpkin guessing games: Czuppon and grade execs create a new way to give back

Pumpkin guessing games: Czuppon and grade execs create a new way to give back

What’s orange, huge, and weighs a lot? A giant pumpkin. Here at OHS we had one located in the cafeteria, but the reason it was there is worth much more then its weight.

At lunch last week students paid a dollar to guess the weight of this pumpkin. The closest person to the actual weight won a free lunch for a whole week. This may be the goal for the students, but the goal the Exec team for all the grades and Mrs. Becky Czuppon was to raise money for Joplin. Over 115 dollars were raised to help out Joplin.

“We met over the summer and decided we wanted to do a give back each semester this year and this is a way to bring awareness to the community,” Czuppon said.  Jimmy Wors (12) was the student that guessed the clostest weight with 100 pounds. The actual weight of the pumpkin was 101.4 pounds.

“It felt amazing, but I donated all the money back,” Wors said.

The pumpkin offered a great way to give back while helping people in need.
