The semester in review

With the first semester coming to a close, it’s hard not to notice all of the changes this year at OHS. It’s time for a bit of a recap!

The biggest change (and the one that we are constantly reminded of) is the school lanyards. The general attitude towards these lanyards has remained pretty mixed throughout the year, although most of us are starting to get used to them. Personally, I don’t think they are really that bad. It’s just a lanyard!

Besides lanyards getting everyone all abuzz, the lack of a Fall Pep-Rally or Homecoming (due to the Powder Puff TeePeeing) got everyone talking as well. Again, there were a lot of split views on this. Some people were really upset while others were glad to have their ANP back (despite the fact that we couldn’t travel.) It was a pretty big deal when it happened, but not so much now.

Soon, and for the first time ever, OHS will be hosting a Glow Dance. This is a bit of a trial run, so here’s hoping it all works out! It should be pretty cool and I know there are a lot of people looking forward to this experience.

Also, we’ve got a new finals schedule too. This new schedule makes sure that ‘brunch’ is served to all students. What does this really mean for us students? Basically that we have to stay until 12:05 instead of our customary 11:30 for a half day. In all honesty, it’s not really that big of a difference. Thirty minutes, that’s it guys!! Plus, we get to have a bit of a break in the middle of testing to have lunch!

So far this school year, we’ve gotten off to a pretty good start with only a few bumps along the way. Keep your fingers crossed for an fantastic next semester!
