Last Friday night, Coach Rich Sturm was awarded the Girls Fast Pitch Softball Coach of the Year award.
Each year, one coach from each high school sport in the state of Missouri is awarded a plaque by the Missouri Coaches Association, and this year Sturm was awarded one by his softball team.
This is Sturm’s 11th season coaching varsity softball at OHS, and holds a record of 220 wins and 54 losses. The teams Sturm coached over the years have made to six Final Four appearances in the state tournament.
“I feel very honored to win this award,” Sturm commented. “What made that night special was being able to share it with the team, my family, former players, and my friends.”
However the season came to a close yesterday with a loss against Fox. The team ended with a record of 20-4.
