Volleyball season ends in district championship game for second year in a row

For the second year in a row, the OHS girls volleyball team fell to the Lindbergh Flyers in the district finals Tuesday night (Oct. 23). The girls finished with a record of 26-8 and 7-1 in their conference.

It was a disappointing end to a successful season. The girls had big wins over top ranked teams this season while maintaining their place in the top ten in the local ranking most of the season.

The team now loses key seniors Sarah Makowski, Jen Brendel, and Kayla Reeg for next season. All three of these girls had impressive seasons statistically that should not be overlooked. Reeg averaged almost eight assists a game, Makowski finished the season with 91 blocks, and Brendel led the team with 47 aces.

Class of 2014 Bio: Hi! As you can see, my name is Evan. I am an avid sports fan who loves watching, playing, and studying them. I am always down to watch or talk about sports. I am loud and out going and try to be friends with everyone. I play football and enjoy playing the sport and being on a team with such a great group of guys. I plan to go to Mizzou and pursue a degree in journalism, and hopefully one day become a sports announcer. I would like to give a shout out to my favorite editor and dime piece Maddie Foster. Oh, and I'm unemployed and single, so do not hesitate to stop and talk to me.
