Tigers improve to 3-1

For the first time under head coach Nick Traxler, the OHS boys basketball team defeated McCluer North in a regular season game. The Tigers took it to McCluer North winning 59-51 in a big early season win.

After starting the season 1-1 last week, the Tigers knew it would be a tough game against the 5th ranked Stars. Coach Traxler and his coaching staff prepared the team with a tough, hard practice before the game.

“It was a good win and we can use it as a building block for the season,” Traxler said.

In a game that OHS led the entire game, the Tigers had impressive individual performances. Austin Gillmann (11) recorded his second double-double in a row scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ervin Sarajlic (11) had 16 points in his third 15 plus point game this season. As well, Tommy Bruenig (12) and Carvon Robinson (10) had eight points and senior Mike Munsell had seven.

“Everyone on the team made a contribution Tuesday night,” Traxler said.

The Tigers followed up on Dec. 11, with another win over Roosevelt the following night. It was not the prettiest game for the Tigers, but they were still able to pull out the victory.

The Tigers look to win their fourth game in a row on Dec. 15 in the GAC Shootout against St. Dominic. The ball tips at 7:30 pm.

I am loud and out going and try to be friends with everyone. I play football and enjoy playing the sport and being on a team with such a great group of guys. I plan to go to Mizzou and pursue a degree in journalism, and hopefully one day become a sports announcer. I would like to give a shout out to my favorite editor and dime piece Maddie Foster. Oh, and I'm unemployed and single, so do not hesitate to stop and talk to me.
