At the halfway point of the season the OHS boys basketball team is 7-4 and have had some ups and downs. The Tigers have impressive wins over McCluer North, and Lincoln. They look to build on that in the Belleville East Tournament this week.

The Tigers have a tough test tonight Jan. 15, to start the tournament playing undefeated Madison Prep. who is ranked number one for small schools in the area. This season through their 14 games, Madison Prep has won by an average of over 20 points a game.

“Their undefeated and ranked number one, they will be a tough test,” said senior Mike Munsell.

Munsell has stepped up this season as a leader on the team and as a starter or coming off of the bench, he brings a high level of intensity to the court. As well, Tommy Bruenig has brought the level of his game up and began to play to his full potential.

A strength of the team this year is the depth coach Traxler has on his bench. Everyone has seen significant time this year and the drop of between the bench and starter’s is slowly closing.

The Tigers also play McCluer in the tournament Wed. Jan 16. Both games will tip at 6pm and will be at Belleville East. The Tigers will play Saturday depending on the outcome of Wed. and Tues. games.
