Wrestling has high hopes

With one week left until districts OHS varsity wrestling has high hopes for the state tournament.

Key wrestlers Tommy Suda (10), Austin Neal (9), Josh Lorenz (12), Nic O’Neil (11), Tyrone Willis (12), and Jimmy Broderick (12) have been wrestling well, and are hoping to qualify for state. Neal and O’Neil have been wrestling outstanding this season, and are leading the team.

The Tigers crushed Parkway Central friday Jan. 25 with Colin Rumpsa (9), a freshman bumped up to varsity was the only loss. Wrestling has duals this week Thursday (Jan. 31) which is senior night against Vianney, and they are away Friday Feb. 1 against Parkway South.

“We are going to have a lot of qualifiers, and maybe a few medalists,” Suda said.

Districts are Friday, Feb. 8, and Sat. Feb. 9 at Christian Brothers College. The top four placers in each weight class will qualify for state which is on Feb. 14-16 at the Mizzou Arena.
