John Pybas (12) swings in the first golf match of the year against Fox High School. Pybas shot a 41 in nine holes.

The golf team played their first match of the season on April 1 against Fox High School at Pomme Creek Golf Course in Arnold. In a close match the team lost by a score of 249-263.

Top varsity golfer John Pybas (12) shot a 41 on nine holes.

“We played well and the team is looking good,” Pybas said. “Pomme is a pretty easy course, but it wasn’t in the best condition yesterday.”

The team is looking forward to a good season after going 2-8 last year.

“We will do a lot better this year than we did last year,” Pybas said optimistically. “We are already looking stronger, and we have a lot of young guys that can hit the ball really well.”

The next time the Tigers tee off will be Tuesday, April 7 at 3:30 p.m.
