Alyssa Norberg (12) takes a free kick in the Tigers’ 1-0 win against Kirkwood on March 31. Norberg scored her first career goal on senior night.

Girls soccer saved its best for last with a 5-0 victory against Fox on senior night on May 7. Five goals is a season high for the Tigers, who had not scored more than two goals in a game before Thursday.

Six seniors were honored. Three seniors scored, including captain Alyssa Norberg’s first career goal 20 minutes into the game.

“It was perfect,” Norberg said. “It was one of my best games.”

Then forward Ashley Guardado (9) slashed through the defense to score her team-leading seventh goal to put the Tigers up 2-0 before half.

Head coach Dave Robben preached pride and passion during the halftime speech and its effects were obvious.

“We had really good energy and we had a lot of fun,” Robben said. “We had the joy of senior night transcend to the field.”

Amber Gerheart (12) scored a goal and the rout was on. With a few minutes left in the game, sophomore Chelsea Morris scored on a free kick from 35 yards out, and less than one minute later Katie Schmidt (12) scored from a cross.

The Tigers are now 6-10 and play Seckman away on Monday, May 11 at 5:00 p.m.
