Frisella played for JV and varsity soccer her freshman year.

Every year, approximately 175 schools in the St. Louis area nominate one student who has succeeded both on the field and in the classroom, and Allison Frisella (12) fit the bill for OHS.

Frisella has been named the representative for OHS in the annual St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete program.

“It feels really great to get this accomplishment and get recognized for all of the work I have put in these four years,” said Frisella.

Frisella has been a member of the basketball, cross country, soccer, and tennis teams here at OHS, swinging for JV and varsity soccer when she was only a freshmen. She will receive some additional perks for being named a Scholar Athlete, besides the regional recognition.

“As a scholar athlete I am featured in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Wednesday (May 18) with other athletes who won it. On Wednesday night, I get to attend the Cardinals game with my family, and all of the athletes get to go on the field to be recognized,” said Frisella.

The Scholar Athletes also filled out a questionnaire about their academic and athletic honors, school activities, varsity sports they have lettered in, and future plans. Excerpts from these answers will be published in the Post-Dispatch and at STLtoday.com on May 18.
