Gabe Foppe (11) walks on to the green during match against Notre Dame on Aug. 23.

The girl’s golf team started their season with a victory against Notre Dame on Aug. 23, but has yet to win another match.

The team still has two more matches and will compete in the conference tournament Sept. 22 and districts tournament Sept. 29 at The Links of Dardenne.

“I think in the next couple matches (if) we could pull it together and have another win or two, I think that (the players) would benefit from that,” said head coach Emily Baker.

Despite the numerous losses, each player has done well individually, as Baker said that each player has had a personal best throughout the season.

One of the leading players is Gabe Foppe (11), who started the season shooting a 46 against Notre Dame. She placed first by shooting only 10 shots higher than par.

“Hopefully I continue to shoot good and make it to sectionals after districts. That’s my goal,” Foppe said.

Foppe has been playing golf since eighth grade, and with constant practicing with Coach Baker and weekend practices with Foppe’s father, she hopes to earn a golf scholarship. But her next step is to represent OHS in sectionals.

Foppe, along with improving players Megan Diel (9) and Nicole Hall (10), are preparing for sectionals this Thursday and look to improve their record in the final matches of the season.
