Caitlyn Kelly (12) and Morgan Allen (11) prepare for the ball to drop on Sept. 13 against Cor Jesu.

The OHS field hockey team recently finished one of its best seasons ever.

The season came to an end on Oct. 21 when the girls lost to Nerinx 2-0 in the district playoffs. The team fought hard to keep its opponent from scoring in the first half, but Nerinx ended up scoring two goals in the second half.

“I feel awesome and so proud, we have put so much work into this and it is actually paying off,” said Caitlyn Kelly (12). “We are closer than ever and we work together so well; it makes me sad that the season is over.”

The girls were very happy about this year’s season. They won first the silver division championship in the all public school tournament for the second year in a row. This year the team made it the Sweet 16 of the state playoffs, which they have never done before.

“What’s different about the team this year is the team’s attitude,” Erin Rossics (12) said. “We all get along great and I think that really shows when we play. We support each other and don’t give up when we start losing. We all play our hardest the whole game and work together well as a team.”

The team finished their season 11-7.
