A new partnership with a local restaurant has OHS students feeling satisfied on their birthdays.

OHS has partnered with Chick-fil-A to honor kids on their birthdays, and help with Chick-fil-A’s business. Mr. Jason Buatte, OHS assistant principal, set up the sponsorship by contacting Chick-fil-a to see if they would be interested. They agreed to gift the school 1,700 gift card with the value of $5 to pass out to students on their birthdays. Students can use these gift cards at the South County location. OHS also sold Chick-fil-A sandwiches at open house and the football games, so Chick-fil-A could get some exposure.

“I was thinking it would be nice to be able to give students something while taking the birthday picture,” said Mr. Buatte

Most students will get a Chick-fil-A card on their birthday. When the students receive their card they will also take a picture with one of the principals. The picture will later be displayed on the tv’s in the commons and on OHS’s twitter and instagram. For the kids that have birthdays during the summer time they will receive their cards on their half birthdays. As  for the students who have birthdays on the weekend they will receive the gift either on the Friday before or the Monday after.

“We felt it would be a good way to honor the students on their birthdays,” said secretary Mrs. Stephanie Ponciroli.

OHS previously on students birthday displayed the students’ name on the tv’s in the commons, but felt they could kick it up a notch.

“I think it’s a good idea,” said Madi Chiodini (10), who has already received her gift card. “It gives people a chance to actually celebrate at school. I even used mine the day I received it.”
