Boys freshman basketball defeats Holt

The OHS boys freshman basketball team overtook Holt High School after a nail-biting third quarter.

Oakville dominated on their home court on Dec. 10, improving their overall record to 3-2. With the help of lead scorer Joey Miller, Oakville managed to maintain their lead throughout all 4 quarters, ending with a final score of 61-47.

“He [Miller] did a good job shooting the ball and driving to the basket,” said coach Chris Cook.

Although the boys pulled out a big win, Holt fought hard and narrowed the gap in the third quarter. The score entering into the last quarter was 36-32, leaving Oakville with little room for mistakes. The team worked together to put up some more baskets on the scoreboard and cement their lead.

“We did a good job, especially in the first half,” Coach Chris Cook said, “we didn’t have very many turnovers.”

The next home game for the freshman basketball team is Dec. 15 against Fox.
