Southeastern Missouri native Sam Barber is a songwriter who is getting bigger by the day. His first album was released in November of 2024, and he is currently preparing for his 25-city tour for the album.
Currently 21-years-old, Barber started writing songs around the age of 16. He started to play around with his grandfather’s guitar and that’s how found his love for music, but before that he never really had an interest in playing music since he was more into sports. His first album, titled “Restless Mind,” is a compilation of his old and new songs. He had even collaborated with Avery Anna and Lily Fitts on two of his songs, including his hit song “Indigo.”
The songs in his track list are more on the sad side and it has a lot of heavy things that he talks about. But each of his songs have a different story and a different view. “Restless Mind” has 28 songs on it, but there is one that is called “G-PA” that includes a recording of his grandpa talking and describing Sam. The genre of his album is country, but it does have a little bit of folk.
For me, this album has had a lot that I can resonate with. The way he sings is like a person telling a story. Then, the way he can sing the exact thing you are feeling in that moment is so cool and makes you want to listen to it more and more. Even other people that I have heard from have said that they love his songs.
The cool thing that stands out to me is how young he is and is how much he has to say. I feel like with his young age, this is a lot to think or even go through. One thing that he could do is to collaborate more with younger country artists. His songs that he has collaborated with have gotten more views and have been listened to the most. In the end, Sam Barber has made his name get out there and has many fans, which has grown over the months. He for sure is not done, as he is just getting started with his music career.
