Auf Wiedersehen Herr Carter

Auf Wiedersehen Herr Carter

Carter shows off his excitement in front of the German display case in the foreign language hallway.

Every year the National German Exam sponsored by the American Association for Teachers of German and the  Pädagogischer Austauschdienst, is given to  around 23,000 german students around the United States. The top 40 participants, whose scores were outstanding, were awarded with an all-expense-paid summer trip to study in Germany. This year, one OHS student was chosen.

Daniel Carter was informed on Monday, March 25, that he was awarded with the trip.

“I’m very excited. I’ve wanted to go to Germany for a very long time, and the fact that it’s free makes it better,” said Carter.

Carter will spend 3 weeks of the trip living with a host  family. Carter will also be going to school with his host student. Carter will then spend another week in Berlin, with the other students awarded with the trip, touring the city.

Although Carter didn’t believe that the test was too hard, he is thankful for the help of his teacher, Frau Miller.

“She’s a great teacher,” said Carter.
