Music students from across the St. Louis area participated in the District Solo and Ensemble festival, and 18 OHS choir events and 13 band events were eligible to move on to State.

Band and choir students performed at Districts on March 9 at Parkway Central High School. The students moving on to state received an “Exemplary” rating, which is the highest an individual or group can receive.

The band students who received an exemplary rating are Norah Kovac (11), Christina Meier (12), Asia Barcom (9), Ryan Dunham (9), David O’Donnell (12), Colin Akers (11), Ethan Kauffman (10), Madison Hassler (12), Gavin Wilhelm (12), Ben Horn (10), Michael Davis (9), Sarah Zygmont (12), Matt Coombs (11), Robbie Kaltenbach (11), Emma Wozniak (12), Shaun Ludwig (12), Faruk Sopovic (9), Sophie Kettenbrink (10), Emre Aka (9), and John Hamburg (10).

The choir students who are eligible for state are Nathan Gallop (12), Tori Jones (12), Mady Baker (11) , Riley Hicks (11) , Thomas Schartner (11), Gracie Burrus (11), Gavin Sandvoss (9), Delaney O’Neill (12), Bekah Keller (12), Eric Throm (12), Haley Miller (12), Morgan Allen (12), Olivia Novak (12), Jacob Allen (9), Trent Manning (10), Christian Boll (12), Gabe Franklin (12), Maddie Bruton (11), Josie Deru (12), and Kurtis Frank (12).

“I like that both of my pieces are different and I can build off of both of those styles,” said Wozniak, “I’m excited to play both of them at state, especially my mixed trio.”

State contest will take place on April 25 at University of Missouri-Columbia.
