Santa gets a little extra help from DECA this year

Throughout the month of December, personalized letters from “Santa” are being made by DECA members for children around the Oakville community for just $7.

The letters from santa idea was presented by athletic director Becky Czuppon. DECA thought it was a great idea and decided to try it out. “I have a 2 year old so I thought he would like it as well as other kids”, said DECA sponsor Jana Shuey.

This Christmas fundraiser will give the kids a chance to open up a letter from santa! Inside the envelope the letter will tell the kids, “santa’s favorite cookie recipe” and have Christmas stickers and reindeer food to get the kids excited and in the Christmas spirit.

For a child to receive their letter from santa, parents must fill out a form with their child’s name, school, grade, siblings, pets, whether they’ve been naughty or nice, and additional information. To get the letter made parents must mail their form to OHS with a check or cash.

“It was a big hit…my grandkids were ecstatic”, said secretary Debbie Hessel.

Letting the parents watch their kids open letters from santa and see the exciting look in their eyes is something almost all parents cherish and love.

As a bonus. DECA was able to make a little extra money on the side. All of the proceeds will be donated to Toys for Tots and will help DECA members attend conferences and competitions in February, 2014.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and nothing is more exciting to a child than receiving a letter from the big man in red himself…Santa Claus.
